We can't be together… The words that continue to echo through one's mind once said.

A girl and boy met, not the usual way but online. The girl had fun with this boy, he brought a smile to her face with every word he said, and she was beginning to like him. Two weeks after they met, something special happened, the girl finally heard the words that no guy had ever asked her before.

"Will you take me as your long distance boyfriend?" The boy had asked.

The girl being surprised laughed and hesitated to answer, not knowing what she should do. Nervously, she replied. "Yes…"

From there on they became close and with each passing day they fell more and more for each other, but they were both forgetting one small detail…

The girl knew she wanted more, but stayed anyway, because she enjoyed the feeling that was settled deep within her heart. She enjoyed the fact that she was wanted by someone who cared, by someone who tried.

All was too good to last, she had thought many a time.

Eventually the time came that she knew she had to tell the boy something, that she had to say it out loud, so everyone could hear. The time came that she had to say the all too famous words…

"I love you…"

The boy only said a simple "aww" and continued into the night. They got into deeper conversation and throughout the night the boy decided to finally say it back…

"I love you… with all my heart"

The girl, wanting to jump into his arms and kiss him, could not. For he was online. She let it be and continued with her night thinking that things would improve.

Weeks began to go by, faster than was expected and finally they were both graduating, but of course, they didn't go to the same school. There was a party that night and the girl attended. A guy she knew out of random tried kissing her, she was drunk and foolish but pulled away, disgusted with herself, she held back tears and went searching for the friend with a drink in hand trying to wash away what had just happened.  The next day came and she told the boy what had happened, he lost trust in her and they had their first argument.

Saddened by that, the girl never completely recovered, she was scarred inside but wouldn't tell the boy. Letting it go, she began to forget. Here began the process of the memories being pushed away.

Every night she had a nightmare, ones that involved hurt and stress. Terror struck her every time she awoke and so she would turn on her laptop quickly to send a message to the boy, hoping he could save her.

Summer was passing by fast and the girl knew that things had to change soon. She would be moving even farther away, even farther than she expected. She told the boy this and it was no big deal they had thought.

The boy decided to come visit her for a weekend, and that weekend she gave him everything, thinking that it wouldn't matter since they would be together forever. As soon as they met each other, she screamed in complete joy and smiled but still knew that it wouldn't last.

She secretly hurt on the inside. She awoke that weekend, on the very last night, cuddled into his arms and closed her eyes, because she hadn't wanted to cry, she hadn't wanted to wake him. Instead she lay there, wishing for this moment to be her last so she wouldn't have to wake up the next night and know that he was no longer there. The next morning arrived and she smiled, seeing his face glossed in sunshine. The girl felt like a million dollar princess and yet deep inside she knew it wouldn't last.

They had to leave that morning and so the entire car ride was silent as she was trying not to cry. Pulling into the driveway she hid the tear that had escaped her eye. She wouldn't be seeing him for awhile after this, she knew.

After a decent time of talking to the girl's parents, the boy had to leave. The girl followed him to the car and gave him one final, last kiss.

As the boy pulled from the driveway the girl turned her back and began to cry. Holding herself up, she smiled and hid her face. Tears fell down her cheeks faster than they ever had before. She crawled inside herself and swore to see him again soon.

During the next few months, many promises were made, many arguments had happened. They were both in college now, figuring out how to live life. The girl was on her own, not a friend she knew or a family member in sight. She spent nights and nights talking to the boy, spending all her time like that, not caring about her work.

Time passed and she was asked to change, but being stubborn, she would not and so the boy became frustrated.

They told each other they loved one another many times, but Christmas was far off and the girl wanted to see the boy every day.

She became confused and let her emotions go out of her control. A mistake that she made.

Time began to hurt them and even their love couldn't hold that together. She began to doubt things that she never should have and so they boy became angry.

They got into a final argument, one that hurt the other, a final argument I say because this is where their road ended.

The boy gave up, he didn't see past the girl's lies and acts. He just wanted to see what she wasn't doing right, it seemed to her. The boy next said the words that she knew she would one day hear again.

"We're done…"

She felt enraged and broken, she was so very torn and yet she tried to befriend him again, but he ignored. Her love continued but she tried to move on.

The girl sits and types this while the boy hasn't the faintest idea of what is going through her mind.

You see, they had forgotten that one little detail.

They were 3000 miles apart and even love has so long of a string.

That string was cut on their five months, and now even though they love each other, never will they be in a relationship with each other again.

Words are everlasting, but emotions aren't.
